2016 Pre Christmas Ride!

Sunday best encore just before Christmas!

🚴🏽🚴🏽‍♀️With most people already on holiday mode, it was great (and comforting!) to see more than 2 people turn up LOL. Some came by straight after work, some came with the whole family + kids, some fully prepared and dressed up tweed style or Santa style, totaling at around 30 people!

(Big family photo before we took off, see below~)

It was a fun casual ride starting from LBNZ workshop at The Strand, Auckland CBD. Their bikes are cool and colourful, especially their electric bike which made it a breeze to ride down all those flat bike lanes (@Lois, I want one of those! Can you cut us a deal? Hehehe)

We went through most of the downtown bike lanes, finally feeling safe riding among Auckland traffic! The Strand > beach road > quay street > viaduct > Silo Park, our final stop.

Lovely Santa also came with us on the trip and hopped into the cargo bike. The huge prezzie bag (actually it was Santa's big belly 🎅) added a lot of weight at the front - her human Rein deer Lois@LBNZ did all the pedaling and apparently had a "great workout" LOL

When we got to Silo park, it started raining (damn!) Auckland weather is unpredictable, just like those Auckland slopes and hills. But our spirit was high, the organizers gave a final speech to thank everyone and cheered as our resident Santa started giving out prezzies~

Randomly picking out your own item from santa's bag, there were some interesting things in there like that huge freakin jar of marmite. Santa said it was the jackpot prize! You either love it or hate it (I'm the latter), but it was good the winner claimed she loves ❤️ marmite on toast! Hehe. See photos below~

The night ended with a bit of hot food at the Silo Park market stalls, a beer or two, catching up with friends and then making our way back to The Strand 😎

Tips for riding in Auckland

#1: bring a wind + water proof jacket with you at all times

#2: get an e-bike, you'll feel better riding through Auckland city gradients!

Just personally wanted to say a big thank you to the organizers for putting this together! Look forward to the next event 😎

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a safe and sound holiday!
